Competitions such as these allow youth participants the opportunity to develop a mastery of their respective subject matters, but more importantly, gain life-long skills. Brielle Gonzales also represented Presidio County and the Far West Texas District as a State Council member. Texas 4-H Council is a team of 4-H members elected by their peers from across the state to represent one of the twelve AgriLife Extension Districts. They serve as ambassadors for the Texas 4-H program, and collaborate with Extension faculty to plan, coordinate and facilitate events and activities like Texas 4-H Roundup.

Marfa 4-H Club Manager, Griselda Hinojos was a recipient of the Salute to Excellence Award. This award recognizes outstanding 4-H volunteers for their service to the 4-H programs and the impact they have on the lives of young people in their community.

Texas 4-H Roundup, now in its 71st year, is held annually in June. This year’s theme of “ReCharge” was aimed at helping participants remember the importance of recharging themselves, even with limited spare time.
