PRESIDIO COUNTY – The Texas Office of the Governor has awarded a $70,000 grant to the Presidio County Attorney’s Office for a full-time crime victim coordinator. “I am gratified that for the first time, the Presidio County Attorney’s office will have a crime victim coordinator,” said Presidio County Attorney Rod Ponton. “Many cases referred to my office are cases of family and domestic violence. I want to ensure that victims’ rights are protected, and that the cycle of family violence stops.” The coordinator will work with crime victims, schools, law enforcement, and area agencies, including the Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend. The position is funded for one year, and will be renewed for an additional two years. The coordinator will be located at the county attorney’s Presidio office.
