PRESIDIO, ROUND ROCK – The two Presidio High School student athletes who participated in the state cross country meet in Round Rock on Saturday placed in the top 20 of 150 runners who competed in each event. Marco Ray placed 13th and Ivett Ramos finished in 17th place, and this was her second appearance at the state XC meet . Rey ran a time of 16:44 and was the only sophomore to finish in the top 20. Rey’s time is the second best in school history as Jesse Ortiz placed 11th in 2016. “We are very proud of Marco’s performance at the highest level,” said Coach Marco Lujan. “Please congratulate the young man when you see him.” Ramos had a time 12:49.47. Her 17th place was a major improvement from last year’s state meet in which she placed 79th. Ivett was also named to the Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region team for the second consecutive year. Only 20 girls from the state made this list. “Please congratulate her on her outstanding season,” said Coach Alonzo Samaniego.
