PRESIDIO COUNTY – On Tuesday, Presidio County Sheriff Danny Dominguez received a call from the Brite Ranch informing him that a vehicle had been stolen from one of the ranch houses.
Dominguez dispatched one of his deputies and by the time the deputy arrived the rancher had located the abandoned truck, but had not searched it as he waited for the deputy to arrive. Upon inspection, no one was found in the truck, but a gun which had been in the vehicle was missing.
The deputy began tracking with assistance from Border Patrol agents. Eventually four men were located and they said they were part of a group of seven men.
Three of the men taken into custody were from El Salvador and one from Mexico. A minor was included in the group of four found.
The person who drove the truck is a Salvadoran named Jose Fernando Ochoa, 28. He is being charged with auto theft and is being held in Sierra Blanca.
The other three were handed over to the Department of Homeland Security. The minor was in possession of the gun.
