TERLINGUA, BOQUILLAS DEL CARMEN – The first annual Sotol Festival will celebrate the indigenous distilled spirit of the Chihuahuan Desert April 12-13 at La Kiva Restaurant and Bar in Terlingua and Boquillas del Carmen, Coahuila, Mexico.
At this binational festival, people will have the opportunity to try many brands of sotol and meet the sotoleros who produce it along with on-site camping, live music, local vendors and more. The festivities begin on Friday, April 12, at La Kiva Restaurant and Bar with live music from Terlingua local musicians. Saturday morning brings the party across the Río Grande from Big Bend National Park to Boquillas del Carmen in Mexico for an authentic experience and to celebrate the unity, peace, dignity, and respect that residents enjoy daily at the borderland.
The party reconvenes Saturday night at La Kiva for more live music from the Pinche Gringos, The Doodlin’ Hogwallops, and headliners Mike & The Moon-pies, and of course, more sotol tasting.
Admission to Sotol Festival 2019 is free, and campsites are available to reserve now at sotolfestival.com . Official festival t-shirts and merchandise are also available for pre-order.
