PHS boys take 3rd place in Region championship meet in Abilene

ABILENE – The 4×400 relay consisting of Manuel Bustamante, Oscar Moreno, Emiliano Valenzuela, and Endrik Reynoso made history by being the first boys relay team to medal at the regional level this past weekend during the Region I-3A championship meet.

They once again broke their school record time and ran a 3:22.40 to earn a 3rd place finish. Their previous record was 3:25.20.

“We were hopeful that this 3rd place time would earn us a wild-card spot at the State meet, but we just missed it by .35 of a second,” said Coach Samaniego. “These kids ran with a lot of heart.”

Marco Rey competed in the 800m run and finished in 10th place with a time of 2:05.45.

Manuel Bustamante competed in a very tough 100m dash but did not advance to finals.

Endrik Reynoso competed in a very tough high jump competition and cleared 5’8. He got out at 5’10.
