Unexpected “guest” crashes Planet Marfa

MARFA – No injuries resulted when a driverless truck slammed into a wall at Planet Marfa on Tuesday.

Marfa Police Chief Steve Marquez said Russell Guevara was working on his pickup truck across San Antonio Street (U.S. 90) from the Planet at about 1pm Tuesday when it got away from him, motored across the highway, and struck the wall at the Marfa watering hole.

“Mr. Guevara said he thought he placed the truck in park,” the chief said. “They were working on trying to manually start the truck and it just took off.

“It dragged the battery charger with it, which left marks in the dirt,” Marquez said.
