VAN HORN – U.S. Border Patrol Agents seizes approximately 850 pounds of marijuana in 10 days.
From May 19 to May 28, Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Van Horn Station worked the rugged terrain near Van Horn and tracked down subjects carrying makeshift burlap backpacks that contained marijuana.
The total marijuana seizure of approximately 850 pounds was the result of four different events that occurred during the ten day period. Over the course of the four events, Border Patrol was assisted by multiple agencies including CBP Air and Marine Operations, Texas DPSafety, El Paso Police Department, and the DEAdministration. The seizures were attributed to the agents’ knowledge of the vast terrain and collaborated efforts of the local, state, and federal partners.
The total value of the narcotics seized have a street value of over half a million dollars.
A total of 12 subjects, citizens and nationals of Mexico and Honduras, were apprehended in connection with these events.
