Marfa theater troupe gearing up for open rehearsal fundraiser

MARFA – In preparation for their world premiere at the 2019 Capital Fringe Festival in Washington D.C. next month, the Marfa-based theatre outfit Dresden Collective is hosting an open rehearsal at the Hotel Paisano in Marfa on Sunday, June 30.

Along with this preview performance of “Mayhem and Other Delights,” the event includes a silent auction featuring artwork, jewelry, and services from local artists, craftspeople, and businesses. Food and drinks are included with admission, including specialty cocktails with beverage sponsor District Distillery. Doors open at 4pm and the Mayhem starts around 4:30pm. Advance tickets are $15 ($20 at the door) and can be purchased at marfatheatreincubator.com/tickets.

“This will be a sneak peek of this variety-show-meets-rock-tour,” said Hope Lafferty, Marfa playwright and artistic director of Dresden Collective. “We’ve received such enthusiastic support from our community and we look forward to putting on a fun sparkly show for everybody.”

Mayhem and Other Delights comprises short works that address themes of smart technology, opiate addition, natural disasters, and in vitro fertilization, and whether mediation is the answer. Dresden Collective includes Theseus Francis, Gabrielle Rule, Jonathan “JB” Fields, Michael B. Amerson, and guest artist Jenny Hatch. Music is composed by Andy Schneider and performed with Nick Bustillos.
