NEW PARADE TIME
ALPINE – For the last 48 years, the Kiwanis Club of Alpine has organized the July 4th celebration for the community. Alpine’s July 4th celebration will take place on Thursday, July 4 at Kokernot Park after the conclusion of the parade. The parade will kick off at 4pm (New Time) with line up beginning at 3:15pm at Porter’s Thriftway on 5th and Sul Ross Ave. Sign up on parade day; prizes will be awarded. The booths will open at 4pm. The Grand Marshall will be 2009 and 2010 Big Bend Cowboys Teams. The Resonators will perform all evening, and the Community Band will perform at 7:30pm. A hot dog eating contest begins at 7pm with Big Canyon TV sponsoring this event. Mystic Gitanas will perform at 9pm with spectacular fireworks at dark. Back this year – Car Show. Get your classic cars, your hot rods, your weekend warrior cars out for the parade and plan on parking them at Kokernot Park after the parade for all to enjoy. No entry fee.
