The Nature Conservancy’s Davis Mountains Preserve opens for hiking, biking, equestrian, picnics, photography, birding and all other outdoor activities for an OPEN WEEKEND July 12-14. Visitors will have access to more than 30 miles of roads and trails of all levels in the high country of the Davis Mountains, including a trail to the highest peak in the Davis Mountains, Mt. Livermore! Gates will open at 8am Friday and close at 4pm Sunday. Camping is in designated areas only. A high clearance vehicle is required to access trails in the interior of the preserve, however very nice trails are accessible from the visitor center. This is a FREE EVENT, and no reservations are necessary. The Davis Mountains Preserve is located approximately 25 miles northwest of Ft. Davis on Hwy 118.
