MARFA – Marfa High School cheerleaders held a three-day mini-cheer camp this week for Marfa youth at the Marfa Shorthorn Gymnasium. There were 16 attendees ranging in age from 4-12 years old. The “mini-cheerleaders” have the opportunity to perform on the track during halftime at varsity football games in Marfa. “Its teaching them at a young age to be confident,” said MHS varsity cheer co-captain Elena Hernandez.
Crawford Marginot, the co-cheerleading coach, hopes that events like these help make the younger kids into better students. Not only are these high school students cheerleaders but “they are leading student athletes at the school.”
