PRESIDIO COUNTY – A box truck and a truck towing a Solitaire Homes manufactured house collided outside Marfa Thursday morning in what Presidio County authorities say is at least the second accident this year involving the manufactured-homes company.

The crash happened after 10 a.m. on U.S. Highway 90, about 17 miles west of Marfa. The truck driver was sent to the Big Bend Regional Medical Center and is expected to recover. The Solitaire driver was unharmed, according to Presidio County Sheriff Danny Dominguez.

Dominguez said it was unknown at time of press which party caused the accident.

A previous accident in April, involving a Solitaire Homes vehicle and a jeep, occurred on Texas State Highway 17 near the Marfa Municipal Airport. The driver of the jeep — Victor Miramontes of Pecos — was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later charged for failing to drive in a single lane.

Solitaire produces manufactured homes in Presidio, then trucks the wide-load houses north to be sold. Solitaire Homes did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
