PRESIDIO — Contrary to rumors, the Bealls store on West O Reilly Street isn’t closing.
Instead, the store will rebrand and remain, according to a statement from the company.
In an emailed statement to The Big Bend Sentinel, Stage Stores, the Houston-based parent company of Bealls, Palais Royal and other brands, said it was excited to announce that the Bealls store in Presidio will rebrand as a Gordmans “beginning in early 2020.”
This is part of a broader shift at the company, according to the statement. “The majority of the Stage nameplates will convert to Gordmans beginning in early 2020,” it said. “A few” will remain as their current brands.
“Shoppers are responding positively to Gordmans’ off-price concept,” the company explained, adding that the Gordmans brand “has been delighting shoppers for more than 100 years.”
The transition will take less than two weeks, and Bealls employees will be offered jobs at Gordmans, the company said.
The company expects to hire more workers and said it will release more updates soon.
