January 16 Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

While reading the story in The Sentinel about Blackwell School joining the National Register of Historic Places, I found it interesting. My late wife was Mexican (She never said Hispanic or Spanish so neither will I). But when I read that Ms. Gretel Enck compared Blackwell School to the Japanese internment camps during World War Two, I thought surely there has been a misprint. To compare Blackwell School, which for most of the children who attended was a positive experience, to the forced relocation of entire families to what amounted to concentration camps is idiotic at best.
