Marathon ISD picks superintendent finalist

MARATHON — The Marathon ISD board of trustees selected Dr. Peter Price as the finalist for the position of Marathon ISD superintendent on May 9. State law requires the board of trustees to wait 21 days to approve the final hiring of Dr. Price.

Dr. Price is currently employed in the Austin ISD as the director of Social and Emotional Learning. His career has spanned being a campus administrator for 20 years, a teacher for 10 years and a central office administrator for four years. Dr. Price has extensive background experience in budgeting, curriculum and personnel management.

Dr. Price earned his bachelor’s degree in Vermont at Middlebury College, his master’s degree from Texas State University and his doctorate from the University of Texas.

Dr. Price’s wife is a healthcare administrator and they have three grown children.

Dr. Price plans to transition to Marathon in early June. He is extremely excited about becoming part of the Marathon school family and the community.

The district received 12 qualified applications and narrowed the field to 5 who were interviewed. Dr. Price’s experiences, qualifications and passion for education and students made him a stand out in the interviews. The board of trustees is warmly welcoming Dr. Price who they feel will “hit the road running.”
