MARFA, PRESIDIO – Jacob Fuentes joined the Big Bend Banks staff Monday, June 10th as Assistant Vice President.
President Chip Love said that the bank is very pleased to have Fuentes on board and knows that the bank and customers will benefit from his talents starting on day one.
Initially, Fuentes’ duties will be to help improve the bank’s technology infrastructure and bolster the banks internal operations.
Fuentes’ banking background is in lending, compliance, auditing, and customer service.
His 13-year banking career began in Austin—before heading to San Antonio, Luling, and most recently, Fort Stockton—but the young man originally hails from Van Horn.
“Being here at Big Bend Banks allows me to be close to home, work in a part of Texas I consider my home, and work with people I consider friends and close family,” the new Assistant VP said. Fuentes arrived in the area with his wife Kathy, and they look forward to raising their 13-month-old son in West Texas.
Looking to the future, the new hire said, “I’m really looking forward to working closely with all the employees, bringing my past banking knowledge over here, and also learning as much as I can from the existing employees here.”
Big Bend Banks is the holding company for The Marfa National Bank and First Presidio Bank.
“He has a strong work ethic and a wide variety of banking skills,” Love added. “Our community will benefit as well. Jacob and Kathy will make a great contribution to our town and region.”
Fuentes finished, “I’d like to express my gratitude to the board, the officers, and employees.”
