AUSTIN – Five Marfa authors have been invited to present their books and speak at the Texas Book Festival in Austin this coming weekend. The book festival is one of the largest in the country and attracts over 50,000 visitors to the capitol grounds and Congress Avenue for two days. The festival is free to the public and features 300 nationally and critically recognized adult and children’s authors. Book sales at the non-profit festival support statewide school and library programs.
Rachel Monroe will appear at the Texas Book Festival on Sunday, October 27, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. as part of the panel “Why We Can’t Look Away: Women, Violence, and Cultural Obsession” in Capitol Extension Room E2.014. Rachel is the author of the recent publication “Savage Appetites.”
The four authors of “Marfa Garden, The Wonders of Dry Desert Plants” will present their book at the Texas Book Festival on Sunday, October 27, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. in The Contemporary Austin – Jones Center (700 Congress Avenue). Book signing will start after the presentation at 2:30 p.m. in the Texas Monthly book signing tent on Congress Avenue. All four authors (Mary Lou Saxon, Martha Hughes, Jim Martinez and Jim Fissel) will be attending.
