FAR WEST TEXAS – Early Voting in Texas for the November 6th General Election begins Monday, October 22nd and goes through November 2nd .
On the ballot is a U.S. Senate Race, and 435 Congressional Districts in the country, including the area Texas CD 23 race, and numerous other state and local offices.
Nationwide, one of the most closely watched contests is between incumbent Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Democrat Beto O’Rourke. Libertarian Neal M. Dikeman also is running but has not generated much ink.
The Congressional battle is between two-term Republican Will Hurd, and challengers Gina Ortiz-Jones and Libertarian Ruben Corvalan.
Top state races include Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, Democratic challenger Lupe Valdez and Libertarian Mark J. Tippetts.
Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is being challenged by Democrat Mike Collier and Libertarian Kerry Douglas McKennon.
And Attorney General Republican Ken Paxton faces Democrat Justin Nelson and Libertarian Michael J. Harris.
Brewster County voters in the Alpine Independent School District also will decide on a $22.588 million school bond issue and county-wide on a proposal to eliminate the position of county surveyor. And voters in the Marfa Independent School District will be asked how to disburse money back to the state since Marfa is now considered a “rich” school district.
Where to vote early
In Presidio County, voters in all precincts can cast early voting ballots at the Presidio County Courthouse in Marfa and Presidio County Annex in Presidio. Polls will be open for early voting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
In Brewster County, voters in all precincts can come to the Judge Val Clark Beard Office Complex, the old library west of the Courthouse. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, October 22, through Friday, October 26. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 27, and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 28. The next week, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, October 29 through Friday, November 2.
Remote Early Voting for Precinct 3 will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, at the Marathon Community Center and for Precincts 5, 6 and 7 from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, at the Panther Junction Community Room and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, October 25 at the Red Pattillo Community Center in Study Butte.
In Jeff Davis County, all early voting will be at County Clerk Jennifer Wright’s office at 111 N. Front Street in Fort Davis, enter through the double green doors. Voting will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, including the lunch hour, October 22 through November 2. There will be no weekend voting.
