ALPINE – One new doctor and one returning doctor will be practicing at the Big Bend Regional Medical Center health clinic in Alpine, as announced in the Holland Hotel lobby last week. Dr. Valerie Bauer is new to the practice. She is a general surgeon specializing in colorectal surgery and is certified in Advanced Trauma Operative Management. Dr. Bauer is a native Texan who graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine (UTMB). She has been trained and certified in Advanced Trauma Operative Management and took Level 1 Trauma call while at UTMB and she is well acquainted with a wide variety of general surgical cases.
Returning physician, Dr. Catherine Harrington, an obstetrician, served in the Alpine Clinic from 2010 to 2014 and has been working since in Monticello, Utah. Dr. Harrington graduated Magna Cum Laude and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society from Meharry School of Medicine in Nashville. She is a Board-Certified Family Provider and trained in obstetrics.
Hospital CEO, Rick Flores, is an El Paso native and started at the Alpine hospital in May of this year. Prior to joining the clinic, Flores has worked in hospital management in El Paso, Lubbock and Big Spring. He was born and raised in El Paso and most recently lived in Lubbock. He was the assistant CEO at Scenic Mountain Facility in Big Spring and has been in the health industry for more than 30 years. His clinical background is in Respiratory Therapy.
